Many thoughts on day 3

The very cool tree that absorbs water. Cute right? If i were a tree hugger, i would hug THIS tree. haha.

See that big patch of grass!?!?!? This does not exists on the island that I am currently standing on. :(

King's park. A war memorial. The fire perpetually burns.. like the olympics torch.

I like the words

I think this would make a very pretty postcard! :)

It's winter and all the leaves have returned back to the soil

The beautiful lake where ducks are aplenty! Maybe one day we should catch them and roast them!! lol. Whatever.

This shameless parrot that kept modelling for me. Gosh. And i thought only humans and peacock are vain. hmm..

I'm a duck, here me quack, i quack twice as loud as you..

and yet another vain pok...
Day 3
I took a 6.4km walk this morning along the lake. ☺ It was the MOST AWESOME walk in my life. Fresh air. Cool air. Sun shining on my face… just brilliant. It was pretty cold so I walked faster and even brisked walk with Uncle Michael. Half way through our brisk walk, I thought of the boys and their funny brisk walks back home and I burst out laughing. Hahaha. Anyway, each day I am convinced that I want to migrate/get a PR here eventually.
Waking up may be a torture on cold days. It is so cold that I do not dare to wriggle or move too much because that would be touching a cold part of my bed and over. I am not exaggerating. It is really COLD. And I digress. But when you’re walking in the ark, having birds fly over your head, mind you pretty birds, see ducks on the lake, parrots of various colours actually coming to you to be fed and photographed, they greet you in a manner that can simply perk you up on a cold sleepy early morning. In addition, people would greet you good morning with this gigantic smile plastered on their face!! It was a natural instinct to return them a smile and greet them. This is what I call a community. We’re too much like stranger back home, so distant and cold… we should do it the Aussie style!!
Stamford dear would love the big field!! He could go mad running till the cows come ome, and may be the new environment, plus the beautiful lake here would ignite his love for water and embrace it.!!! Gosh, Australia is really causing all that maternal instincts in me to arise, oh which I never knew existed! Perhaps its just the environment.
At the lake today, I thought to myself that if I have kids (HA!) I would bring them out for walks there, and then my husband would teach them how to play softball, some soccer, Frisbee, and then we’d lie on that big patch of green grass and admire the beautiful clouds!
It sounds so stupid to say I went to Australia to admire clouds. But I guess for me it’s something I appreciate. To actually have a proper quiet time, appreciating the air that I breathe, to see some greens instead of just buildings after buildings… there is something very beautiful about it. Kam would give me a pat on my shoulder knowing that I am starting love nature as much as her now. ☺
Had brunch at Sugar and Spice. If I had my phone with me, I’d take a picture and send it to fish!! Lemon croissant + chicken pie + coffee + quiche…. Of course, we shared all of those. Now I really need to run around that park eh! I am no pastry lover, but THOSE….. ohmy, it’s time to go France!!! ☺
Ohoh, and I saw some, no, many old couples taking long walks together. I want to age with my husband toooooo!!!!! I think that it is utterly romantic. Do I sound boring????!!! Hmm..But I seriously find it very heartwarming when old couples hold hands and walk together. *sigh* it’s so apt that my mp3 is playing ‘Both Sides Now’ by Joni Mitchell. Hee. I like how the more mature people here lead such vibrant lives, they are always busy meeting up, doing shopping, taking walks, planting tulips for spring, keeping themselves busy! It is good! And the old men would organize cycling together and they look so cute with their helmets on. Haha. ☺ If I lived here, I’d travel about on my bicycle!!!!!!!!!! Except maybe during winter. The wind would kill me.
King’s Park was beautiful, the view of Swan River was fantastic. I sat on the beautiful green grass and I truly understand now why those Aussies love to sit on the grass to read their books, have picnics, sun tan, spend time with their loved ones on ANY green patch of grass thaty they find. It’s so comfortable, cool, and in touch with nature…
You know how people are always commenting/complaining how boring it is in Australia? Well, it is no secret that that was my opinion too, in fact I sort of dreaded coming as the date nears because I honestly thought I would die of boredom!!! Sitting still, not having anything to do, having time to myself is something I crave for but when given can be intimidating. HAHAHA. I am a joke.
Anyway, I think it is the PEOPLE, not the place that is boring. The place is bursting with places to visit, discover and explore. Sometimes all it takes is a little fun spirit, a keen sense to explore and some imagination. Sounds like a child play? Sure. But that’s what made my childhood fun and well, it’s hard to reject wanting to experience that again isn’t it? My 12 days here is NOT ENOUGH!!!!!
In fact, I actually sleep very well here. Sleeping by midnight is actually an easy feat!!! 11pm I am actually lying in bed and hoping that the heater would kick in and then soon I’d have drifted off to dreamland. ☺ I have sufficient rest and I ADORE that feeling of being fully rested. Feels like eons since I last felt that way. Thank God for this rest. Really.
Today I was talking to Marc about some things and I think it opened up many new perspectives and ideas about some of the things I have been thinking about
Oh, just a random thought.. I want to eat a gelato here in the FREEZING COLD till my bones freeze. Maybe I shall do it with my friends when I meet them. Sounds like plan! It is just so thrilling to eat something cold on an insanely cold night and have your hands shivering like mad, but your ice cream never seem to melt. Must do it for kick! ;)
