PARROTS!!!!!
Day 2
Bought a day pass so we went down to Fremantle. Heh. It's not that brilliant a place as raved by people online, the Australians. I mean sure, I Was fascinated by with the Shipwreck museum, the quaint streets which actually reminded me of Haji Lane. Unique, cute, filled with character but EXPENSIVE. Today felt a little strange. Hmmm, don’t quite know how to explain. Oh well. I guess the most Aussie thing we did today was visit MANY aboriginal museums and shops, of which I thought of Sarah quite often and her funny slang of No Worries, G’day mate…. Kind of bemusing. In fact the streets along Fremantle felt a lot like the streets in Italy. Fusion! Cosmopolitan! Haha.
Saw countless seagulls and parrots. Ohmygoodness, if I had lost my sense of sight and touch, I would have thought that it is was Spring, you know, the supposedly season of love. I say this because I saw so many parrots mating!!! Haha. Oh nature, who am I to get into their wa ;) But I just had to take a couple of photos of those cute little birds of various species with my toy camera ☺ Can’t wait to develop them. Daryl must be laughing his head off at me as I talk about my oh-so-atas/cute toy camera. Haha. I wish I was a high school student here, I’d love to have a sandwich in my hand, sitting under a lovely maple tree and have a good book in my hand.
Notre Dame University looked so pretty in terms of their architecture. It felt like there were many quiet corners/areas to uncover. Mysterious. That’s the word. NUS? Oh please, let’s just apparate home! Haha.
Had fish and chips, vinegar and paper style. Thought of Daisy and Boon when we saw the humongous serving!!! And then floods of my sweet, thoughtful but embarrassing birthday celebration returned back to me. Haha. The fish and chips were nothing to wow about. Not that it was bad, it was just… normal? Haha. To my dismay, just before I went back, Daniel told me that actually it’s the chili mussels that are nice there… -_- Nevermind, I’d be back in December!!! Hahaha. I hope that I’d still be able to fit into the dress that Margaret is sewing for me.
Anyway, headed down to Perth City in the evening and saw their own version of the eye. They seriously have aesthetic sense!!! ☺ It looked pretty. Nothing elaborate and massive like _____________, and no ah beng lights← VERY IMPORTANT. I don’t mind going up on one next time. ☺
Ohoh! Took a ferry to South Perth!! A pretty ol’ man drove the ferry. His wrinkled hands turned the wheel, a route he took often. Probably his 50++ times traveling down the same route. Nothing much to accompany him, just passengers who board and then leave, barely leaving their mark. His eyes held something sad. But I was not able to read. As we journeyed to our destination, he played a song on his old radio piece. A sad one I must add. An oldie. Something about a broken relationship. With vacuous eyes, he looked ahead, probably not feeling much. This old man…traveled the Swan River more than any of us. Perhaps he have woven it to be part of his life. And I wish he would and could see the beauty of the river, the ducks, the swans, the beautiful lights, the sound of water, and the bridges….
But honestly, it was the perfect emo setting. I could so visualize myself taking the ride back and forth, planted on that exact seat, staring out of the window, enduring the cold and quietly wipe the tears that stream down my face. Gosh. What a typical channel 5 moment.Haha.
The walk home was so cold that my nose and cheeks turned red. Brrr… nice cold walk in the early morning.
You know what? I actually enjoy the Australian lifestyle.
PS: I miss you S&G. You know who you are. And Gera dear, I sincerely wish I can visit you in Canberra!! December ok! :)
